The DJ Guy is owned and operated by Ed Altounian of Howell, MI. We have been in business since 2000 and have over 12 years of experience DJing at nightclubs, private parties as host of a internet radio show and of course; hundreds of weddings. Some of our repeat clients include Pepsi Bottling Group, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan.

Ed originally became involved with the local music scene in the 90's and has done sound production for many artists in the Detroit area. He helped run a group for electronic based artists, called the Detroit Electronica Coalition for over five years. Ed organized and worked on their last compilation CD which won the "Best Electronic Recording" Detroit Music Award, for 2004!

The DJ Guy believes that your wedding reception is NOT about the DJ. It's about the bride and groom. It's about making sure that we do everything to make their reception as memorable as possible, without losing focus of who the stars are!

The DJ Guy was started with the philosophy that the client comes first. We're not rockstars and we certainly didn't write the songs we play, so why should we act that way? If we can't make our customers happy, someone else will and the best way to attain new customers is by word of mouth. Many of our past clients have referred new clients to us and we are forever grateful for that. In fact, over 85% of our new clients are referrals from past clients!

In 2007, The DJ Guy went digital and began using a hardware based DJ deck made by Cortex. Going digital paved the road to a bigger music catalog and eventually to a smaller setup utilizing laptops and allowing faster song access and the ability to cue requests instantly. We currently have over 50,000 songs in our catalog, but that grows by about 500 songs per month.

Travis came to work for The DJ Guy in 2010. Travis had recently moved up from Alabama where he had worked in the clubs. He is an expert in the Country genre (even better than Ed!).

Travis is a true southern gentleman and you'll notice that right away when he says "yes sir"/"yes mam".

Travis uses identical equipment so there is no difference in song selections, lighting or the excellent service, whether it's Ed or Travis hosting your event!
